2022 Annual Report
Mission Statement: We, the Washington State Department of Transportation Memorial Foundation, are entrusted to preserve the memory of Washington State Department of Transportation fallen workers and to provide assistance to active and retired Washington State Department of Transportation employees and their families in times of need.
Since 2010, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Memorial Foundation has provided approximately $473,000.00 in financial assistance to WSDOT employees and their families. While much of the assistance provided by the Foundation is confidential in nature, the Foundation can disclose its involvement in the following activities:
Provided financial aid to 250 individuals and families, including the families of fallen workers, employees struck by vehicles, employees with medical-related issues, families in crisis, employees with house fires, and those with end-of- life matters.
Like many organizations, the pandemic continues to have an impact on the Foundation activities such as fund-raising, membership and merchandise sales. In 2022, the Foundation hosted its first ever online auction. Planning has begun for another online auction in 2024 as well as expanding membership to include associate members from the private sector. In addition, custom logo wear sales continue to be a Foundation focus in 2023.
Current Foundation members continue to be encouraged to recruit new members among their coworkers. With the return of recruiting at in-person events across the state, the membership has begun to move back toward pre-pandemic levels.
The Annual Memorial Foundation Meeting was held on September 6, 2023 at the Olympia Community Center. The Annual meeting date was changed to September to allow for easier travel and better attendance.
The Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization 501 (c) (3) supported entirely by voluntary donations – no state or federal funds are used. The Foundation is registered with the Internal Revenue Service, Secretary of State and Combined Fund Drive (#1480378).
